Ok ! i believe ACCPAC project have made lots of people stressed up as it is a long and tedious project. Let's start with our group progression.

We starting doing the accpac project during the first week of holiday as we know that we will took a long time for us to finish it and we do not want to rush it when the deadline is near.

Basically, we have to print out all of the project details and information, arrange it and get started.

Firstly, we have to setup all the accounts. It's important because it links to the whole project and will affect every single details and transactions. I remember what we learnt during accpac tutorials and manage to open a few accounts slowly. Obviously we have met obstacle during the opening of accounts but we are able to solve it by looking at the book or ask someone for help. So, opening of accounts completed smoothly.

Secondly, we have to write down all the double entries for the transactions for PineTree. It took us 10min to finish it us we had done it before during the first year Financial Accounting project. We double checked it and started keying the opening balance for each account. After that, we key it the different transactions into accpac.

We finished GL journal entries smoothly and got stucked in the AR and AP transactions as we found out that our total amount for quite a number of transaction was over charged as tax is included but we already untick the tax calculation, so we don't really know what's the problem. Without hesitating, we called our teacher, Mr Koh to help us. After analysing awhile, Mr Koh also did not manage to find out the problem so we decided to re-do. Although it will takes us quite a long time to re-do, i guess it is the only solution to it. Fortunately, we started the project earlier than everyone so we have the time to re-do it.

After re-doing it, we solve the problems and continue with the recurring entries. We figured out which transactions belongs to the recurring entries and keyed in. Luckily we did not met any obstacle in doing this.

Next is the balance day adjustment, we did it smoothly through the help of friends and the accpac tutorial book.

After BDA, we printed out all the GL entries because we wanted to check it and key in the GL data entry form. Firstly we don't really know how to do the GL data entry form but after asking from help from friends, we manage to figure it out and started keying it.

It is a very tedious job because we have lots of transactions and the only solution to this is to allocation jobs to everyone. Each person is allocated with a few batches. Unfortunately, we met another obstacle that we don't really know what to do. The problems is we don't know what to key into the empty blank at the "Prepared By" and "Approved By" so we went around the lab to ask. As what i said, we are ahead of almost everyone so many of our friends could not help us. After searching around, we decided that we should put our own name on the "Prepared By" as we prepared it and put "Tan Peck Choo" at the "Approved By". Actually many of my friends met the same problem when they reach that part. So we helped them and move on. Lastly is the company logo, we decided to put the PineTree logo so we scan the book and paste it on it.

Later in the day, after all our classes, we went down the lab to print the different reports that we need. We met another problems here. We do not know how to print a few reports like the customer monthly statement and the balance sheet and Income statement, so we asked for help.

Lastly, we finished the accpac and printed everything according to the list given, from a) to t). During the arranging of the reports, we found another problem. We listed our company as Pinetree which we are not suppose to do it, so we went up to the staff room to ask our teacher, Mr Koh. He said that it is not as important as it is a small mistake but a few marks will be deducted over a few hundred of marks so we decided not to reprint as the lab is packed with people. Finish up the theory part,checking all the spells and error and edit it to make sure that we elaborate and explain it correctly according to what the questions required.

Finally, after all the binding and labelling on the report, we went up to the staff room and HAND UP ! i felt so accomplished because this is a very tedious project and we manage to finish it before the last day. Our teacher also said that we are the first group to hand up and we did all the labelling and tags which will be easier for him to mark or read.

Doing this project taught me how to manage time as this project require a lot of time. If you have been to the computer lab during thurs or friday, you will be seeing lots of student printing and rushing through the work which is not very good because you may not have the time to spot errors as you did not even have the time to finish it. So this project taught me a lesson that we have to plan our studies nicely so that we will have sufficient time for other stuffs.
